Every once in a while, the Whole gets rented by a group that is putting on a great event. Next Monday is one of those times. The African and African American studies Department is hosting Fred Ho, who is going to be giving a lecture and performance at 4pm, Monday, November 9th. Ho is an author, activist, composer, and musician who is sure to have a lot of enlightening things to say about Jazz and Afro/Asian identities.

10/12/2009Yes, it appears to be snowing in October

Hey ya'll. Are you as bummed as I am about the snow? Well, the only way to fight winter is by embracing it (and then squeezing the life out of it.) As a result, we are planning some sweet shows to close out the Fall semester. The first Bits Variety Show of this school year is set for this Thursday, and we have a great crop of new UofM student artists on deck for your entertainment pleasure. We are also super excited about our All Girl Drummer Night - Chicks With Sticks. That show is going to rule.
Then, Vampire Hands, Dillinger Four singer/songwriter Erik Funk, the much-buzzed-about Zoo Animal, and Lazerbeak...

9/9/2009Falling Up

Phew. We spent all summer planning and toiling for the return of students, and they have returned - with a vengance! So long empty busses, so long calm corridors, so long sleepy Northrop Mall. Students are back in town and they are ready to rock and we are ready to put on some serious rock shows down here at the Whole Music Club.
First things first, let's talk Funk at the Fred. Yes, it's free. Yes, there will be a ton of people there. Yes, RadioK will be playing the sweet jamz out front. Yes, Mesa Pizza will be serving hungry people free pizza. Inside, check out Mel Gibson and the Pants, Ghost
