Phew. We spent all summer planning and toiling for the return of students, and they have returned - with a vengance! So long empty busses, so long calm corridors, so long sleepy Northrop Mall. Students are back in town and they are ready to rock and we are ready to put on some serious rock shows down here at the Whole Music Club.
First things first, let's talk Funk at the Fred. Yes, it's free. Yes, there will be a ton of people there. Yes, RadioK will be playing the sweet jamz out front. Yes, Mesa Pizza will be serving hungry people free pizza. Inside, check out Mel Gibson and the Pants, Ghost

So, we finally got around to posting the Making Music videos from last semester on our YouTube channel. You can see interviews and unique performances by Dan Wilson, The Dirty Projectors, Black Blondie, and Jason Moran.

We hearty folk at the U know what it is like to weather the harsh elements and brave the cold temperatures, but there is no need to worry about that now. It's summer, and the next three to four months are going to be amazing! So, go to a festival, check out music and movies at Loring Park, or just relax with your favorite hipster friend at Hidden Beach. While you are gallivanting around Dinkytown and enjoying those happy hour patio specials, we are still here at the Whole brainstorming the next semester for you. 4/28/2009NOMO NOMO NOMO NOMO

Nomo. Maybe a name you haven't heard of before. But a band that we at the Whole totally adore.
Once again, we are in the position where we are a little unsure how we are going to fit this many people on stage. Nomo features two drummers, a percussionist, and a complete horn section. There's like 8 or 9 people in Nomo. What were we thinking? Well, whatever happens, it's happening this Friday, May 1st.
Well, their MySpace page lists the following influences: Can, Sun Ra, Fela Kuti, Moondog, Brian Eno, Funkadelic, Miles Davis, Steve Reich, Harry Partch
