Hey Whole people:
Major things going on in the Whole lately. First and foremost, we have had a string of awesome shows. Tapes n' Tapes turned out a great show, and people that were around last Saturday got treated to an awesome rock explosion as Clarity Process and Small Towns Burn a Little Slower brought a ton of energy to a newly-improved Whole.
Wait, did I just say newly improved? Yeah, I guess I did. If you haven't been down to the Whole lately, come on down sometime and check out a show. We got paint on the walls, we got some curtains, we got carpet, and we got some new colored lights. It's starting to feel a little less prison-like down there now. We're only about half done with phase one, though. We are also putting up some classic old Whole Music Club posters (" Selby Tigers, Hidden Chord, Short Fuses, Cadillac Blindside, Plastic Constellations, Smattering: November 13th, 1999") and getting some more comfortable couches and easy chairs around the middle of November.
Wednesday night action continues. City Blocks kicked off our October with a couple of great sets during the New Routines Jazz Series. We had a ton of great performers for our monthly Bits variety show last Wednesday, including an awesome set by our very own UofM student group Voices Merging. Tonight promises to be a blistering Electrologue, featuring noface, a group of avant-electro-noise musicians from the U, and Foodteam, Ryan Olcott's new solo project.
Next Wednesday, October 27th, we are very pleased to welcome Jon Nelson of Some Assembly Required. He's coming by to do a live version of his weekly show down in the Whole. The extraordinary Mark Wheat is also going to be here spinning some current RadioK hits.
Friday October 29th, the Whole Music Club is sponsoring a University of Minnesota student band night. Local faves Vertigo Joe and Perfunctory are playing, along with some very special guests TBA. Also We're cosponsoring a show with Performing Arts in order to bring int he band 'Endochine'. The WMC also has some more shows in the works, but I can't tell you what they are. They still have 'Top Secret' written on their contracts. Stop back by soon to find the hidden answer.
You may also note that there is a Whole Menu selection on our home page. Turns out that during shows, we have food for sale. Hot food. Pizzas. Coffee. Please peruse our ample menu, come on down, and get your snack on.
