We're excited to have Ari Herstand and Coleman Lindberg here on Thurday evening. It's going to be a singer/songwriter evening. Both of these guys play guitar and sing really amazing songs. Ari has been kicking around the UofM for a while now (he has recently graduated from McNally Smith), playing really popular gigs at the Steak Knife as well as at the Whole Music Club. I first saw him at a Res Hall talent night and my girlfriend loved him so much that she told me she would break up with me if I didn't book him to play the Whole. For this Bits Variety Show, we brought back the outstanding performers from the Fall 2004 semester. 7Days made an appearance, too, but I didn't get any photos of their set. The other people that appeared were: Badger Hotel, Ari Herstand, Greg Froehle, and Ty Stafford. Ty did a great version of "Like a Virgin". It seemed to be the night of the looping device, as three of our performers had them and used them to create layers and layers that they sang and played trumpet over.

Last Wednesday's BiTS variety show went off well. We had some great musicians in the Whole playing to an engrossed crowd. Katie Sauer started out the evening singing some old favorites. Ty Stafford followed with some great songs, but didn't do his Kermit the Frog impression, unfortunately. Next up was Anthony Brown, the Soundshaker. Anthony can make noises come out of his mouth that defy the imagination. He's also, it turns out, a comedian. He did some 'name that tune' stuff, and then blew us away with wicked beats.
