Hey, thanks for coming to the shows! We've had a few great ones in the past month. This week, there's a couple of big shows that we are excited about. Tonight is Fat Kid Wednesday's. FKW is a collection of young, well-known jazz musicians from Minneapolis. Micheal Lewis and Chris Thomson play a variety of saxaphones for a variety of bands. Lewis is perhaps best known for his playing in Happy Apple and Redstart. Adam Linz and JT Bates bring up the rhythm section of the group. We're honored to have them and can't wait to add to the list of great jazz musicians that have played in the Whole. Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, Sun Ra, and Fat Kid Wednesdays. This Friday promises to be a special night as well, with performances by A Whisper in the Noise, The Umbrella Sequence, and Look Alive. It's going to be a multimedia experience. The Umbrella Sequence played here last year and blew me away. They were so good that we're bringing them back. Here's a quick run down of who has played the past month and some fave moments: The Ballet Mechanique played a few weeks ago for the first ever Electrologue electronic music night. As promised, the Data Gloves were out and the MetaHorn was blown. Air guitar was given a new meaning. Angry Atom put on a blistering rock show. They had a lot of energy and played for a very interested crowd. It was our first rock show of the year and we blew all of the dust off of our speaker cabinets. Mark Wheat graced us with his fine bald presence the following Wednesday for the RadioK Listener's Lounge. It was really nice to hang out, meet the DJs, and listen to some great music. We're planning something special for the October 27th Listener's Lounge, so stay tuned. Hint: it's my birthday. Last Friday was the mighty (big) Umbrella Bed ska show. Show attendees were given tickets for free bowling shoe rental after the show at the Goldy's Gameroom. Ska has almost as long of a history as bowling at Coffman. OK, that's that. Things are rolling along and the tickets are in for our space improvements. We are putting in carpet, painting the walls, hanging curtains, and 'warming up the space'. This, of course, is completely necessary and we are all very excited about it. Keep tuning in to the website to see some serious website improvements as well. Booking information and photos are on their way. Email me with any comments or questions!
