Theme: Making Music
A monthly series occurring every fourth Wednesday, Making Music features local musician JG Everest conducting interviews with influential local musicians live in the Whole. Topics will include the nuts and bolts of music composition, creative process, and everything else that makes that artist tick. Highlights of the show will include live demonstrations and questions from the audience. This evening's guest is Wendy Lewis. Wendy is the singer/songwriter of local supergroup Redstart and founder of past projects Rhea Valentine and Mary Nail. She has earned six MN Music Awards to her and her bands' credit, and many nominations including Artist of the Year in '95 and Recording of the Year (for Rhea Valentine's "Shrug") in '96. Nowadays, she heads up the local band Redstart. "...Wendy's buttery vocals and bloody poems feel as free-form as the instrumentation, making for an ensemble piece that uses syllables and words as notes and cues and leaves the dot-connecting to the listener." -St. Paul Pioneer Press
