Theme: Making Music

The monthly series Making Music features local musician JG Everest conducting interviews with influential local musicians live in the Whole. Topics will include the nuts and bolts of music composition, creative process, and everything else that makes that artist tick. Highlights of the show will include live demonstrations and questions from the audience. This evening's guest is Martin Dosh. Besides drumming duties in the bands Fog and Lateduster (among others), Martin Dosh is also the sole member of the musical entity Dosh. Dosh plays both drums and Rhodes, looping keyboard parts and switching back and forth between the two instruments, sometimes playing them simultaneously. Not an event to miss!

Martin Dosh came by the Whole to share his unique musical insights. He and James talked about pedagogy, composition techniques, and the use of technology in a performance setting. Marty also gave those in attendance a rare step-by-step accounting of how he constructs songs and improvises during performances. We’re of the feeling that in the near future, he will be viewed as an evil genius sent from the future.
