Adult Swim Tour featuring ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Metalocalypse's Dethklok

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

NOTE: this event has been sold out. Those without tickets wishing to gain admittance can try their luck at the door the night-of.
There is one undisputed, most popular, most powerful, most deadly heavy metal band in the universe: Dethklok. The cartoon powerhouse will be turning Coffman metal in a rare free live performance.

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead will also play. There will also be prize giveaways including Guitar Hero III and a Virgin mobile phone.

11/6/2007Dethklok Sold Out

Yo, so we are putting on this FREE Dethklok show in the Great Hall and we only had so many tickets to give away. We've already given ALL of them away. People really seem to enjoy the metal these days. . .
If you are one of the many people scratching their heads about not having a ticket to this sold-out show, here's the only thing we can tell you: You can try your luck at the door the night of the show. If somebody doesn't come to claim their ticket, you may be able to take their spot. We aren't saying that this is likely, but it's possible. Devil Horns.

DETHKLOK HARDCORE !!!!!!!!

3:48pm, 11/6/2007 #13570I'm scratching my head because I only found out yesterday that there were even tickets involved. Every poster on campus boasted "FREE SHOW", which intuitively means *no tickets*. When I saw that this *free* show had been sold out, I was indeed confused. As widely advertised as this show was, almost nothing was said about needing a ticket. I for one think this is bogus. www.adultswimpresents.com didn't even suggest that tickets would be needed until fairly recently. As a Metalocalypse and Dethklok fan since day 1, I feel very disappointed at the lack of communication and clarity involved in this tour.

I agree entirely. I have been tracking this tour since it was first announced. I have been scouring OneStop for information, and eventually got ahold of the "Student Activites Union" and asked very clearly what I had to do to assure my entrance into the show. The person I talked to didn't seem to understand my question, and said because it was free, that waiting in line was the only thing I should worry about. After I heard that I rested assured and planned on waking up bright and early and parking myself inside Coffman Union. (Tomorrow) As a paying U of MN student I am especially frustrated my entrance to the show is not guranteed, especially considering my effort. Oh well, I'll still be in line tomorrow trying to get my way in. Dethklok Rules!

I didn't know there were tickets to get either until just now. I went online to check and only today saw the "TICKETS" button under the Dethklok tour. I will still probably wait in line even though it seems unlikely there will be any open spots. If another Dethklok tour is ever lined up I really hope information is more clear than this time around.

I'm guessing it will be brutally loud enough to hear from just about anywhere in Minneapolis... so even if you can't see them, it'll almost be like you're there.

12:18pm, 11/7/2007 #13588Not really. If you look up Youtube videos of the show, they have an elaborate stage show, including giant monitors that show footage specially made for this tour.

Show up early dude in case there are any extra tickets like Dave said. Maybe you'll get lucky?

It's a shame that fake cash-in metal does better than real bands who have been doing it for nearly 20 years. Fuck Metalocalypse. I was excited about this show when I first heard about it because I thought metal would get its due in the cartoon world, but Dethklok sucks. It's not funny, the music sucks, its terribly mixed. Worse, the creators of know nothing about what metal is - they've just dumbed it down and accentuated its most sensational aspects for a bunch of pop culture retards. Spend your time better and go see some real bands like Norwegian metal legends Enslaved and America's own death merchant's Arsis on Saturday at Station 4 instead. Death to false metal.

How does a free show=cash in metal? I think your logic is inherently flawed.

U of M students and general public...all are free, so long as you've requested tix.

The show may be free to the audience, but they're certainly not playing for free (I would guess the guarantee is at least 10k). Cash-in metal was a reference to the whole premise of the show - a metal band parodied (and badly) by those who know nothing about metal and which will rake in big bucks for the unworthy. To those who take metal seriously, the show is unimportant at best and insulting at worst. And with the exception of legendary metal drummer Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Death, Strapping Young Lad), the music itself is being performed by are a bunch of Hollywood "professionals" including creator Brendan Small himself. Which is why they are playing with another band of poseurs like And You Will Know Us By The Trail Crap. They wouldn't dare play with real metal bands.
