Slug and JG Everest at Making Music

This spring, the Whole Music Club presents the ninth season of Making Music, a series that features long-format discussions with talented musicians about their art. Local musician JG Everest (Lateduster, Vicious Vicious) hosts the show, which includes interviews, unique performances, exclusive and unreleased tracks, videos and Q&A from the audience. Video archives of past Making Music guests, including Andrew Bird, Slug, Stef Alexander (POS), Alan Sparhawk (Low), Dessa, Richard Devine and more can be seen on our Whole Music Club YouTube channel. This series is co-sponsored by Radio K, The Onion and MNArtists.org.

Please note, the David Longstreth and Jason Moran event will be taking place at the Walker Art Center's McGuire Theater.

Tickets are free for all-ages. See the ticket availability dates listed for each session.

Black Blondie (Tasha Baron on keys, Liz Draper on bass, Kahlil Brewington on drums, Samahra Linton on vocals) are four friends bounded by a common love for creating music. Coming from diverse artistic backgrounds, they have created a musical experience that is uniquely their own. Soul, hip-hop, funk, jazz, they pull influences from everywhere. During this installment of Making Music, we will find out how these four musicians united to create their upcoming album, "Do You Remember Who You Wanted to Be."

Dan Wilson

Thursday, April 30 at 8pm. Free for all ages.

Dan Wilson

Few musicians have a comparable laundry list of accomplishments like Dan Wilson. He was a part of the cult band Trip Shakespeare, recorded the very memorable "Closing Time" with his critically-acclaimed band Semisonic, won a Grammy for co-writing the song "Not Ready to Make Nice" with the Dixie Chicks, and released his first full-length solo album, "Free Life," late last year. Can we cover all this in one evening? Dan Wilson is game if you are.

Jason Moran

Thursday, May 7 at 7pm. Walker Art Center, McGuire Theater. Free for all ages.

Jason Moran

Tickets available at the Hennepin Lobby desk from 6pm on the night of the event.

The Making Music series comes to a close with another special event held at the Walker Art Center featuring jazz impresario Jason Moran. In addition to discussing his career as a critically-acclaimed pianist and composer, Moran will give insights into his multimedia piece, "In My Mind: Monk at Town Hall," based off of the celebrated town hall concert in 1959 by his hero, Thelonius Monk.
